Give Me Liberty

Born in Dakota in 1886, Rose Wilder Lane is, alongside Isabel Paterson and Ayn Rand, usually considered one of the « founding mothers » of American libertarian thought. A sympathizer of communism in her youth, she renounced this commitment in a lengthy article published in 1936 in the Saturday Evening Post titled « Credo, » in which she delivered an argument in favor of individualism and personal responsibility, which she saw as the pillars of American uniqueness.
